Under the expert guidance of Longwood Soils and Compost Manager Erik Stefferud, learn the fundamentals of compost—from how it's made to what it’s made of.
Longwood Gardens has a long history of composting, having started this sustainable practice in 1956 to give our plants a second life and enrich our Gardens. With this class, get exclusive access to our behind-the-scenes Soils and Composting Facility, and learn how to start this practice yourself. To help get you started, we’ll send you home with a bag of our compost— the same that we use throughout our Gardens, made with materials from our Gardens. You'll be seeing your garden flourish in no time!
