Inspired by the new—and incredible—Mediterranean landscape-inspired West Conservatory, join Longwood Senior Horticulturist Dean Dietrich for an introduction to Mediterranean plants for the homeowner.
During this walk and talk class that takes you through the new West Conservatory, learn how to incorporate Mediterranean or “Mediterranean style” plants into your garden and home.
Start your experience with a classroom lecture on Mediterranean climates and unique flora, and then explore the West Conservatory for a firsthand look at its celebration of the world’s Mediterranean ecosystems. Discuss hardier plants that give a Mediterranean look but thrive in Pennsylvania’s climate, as well as colorful Mediterranean annuals. You’ll leave with a list of plants to use as future reference as you plan your own gardens at home.
